Fun Laura.. and that's the way I want to keep my life!!

As the nights go by, my days in Inuvik get shorter. I cannot believe the year is almost done! Wow.. So to celebrate, I have had many many visitors come and hang out with me on my final night shifts (stupid me working 6 nights in a row, coming off nights the day we leave for our journey back home.

Who wears a hat like this.. apparently only him!! Maybe the hat settles things down.. who knows

Oh yes.. even the RCMP visited.. haha.. Great people!!

Warm cookies... are the best!!!

Jen, Kristine and I went BERRY PICKING.
Location, just off the dempster hwy, looking for low lying blue berries on trees.. haha... And yes we found many... wee little tiny things, but yummy. I wanted to say I went berry picking in Inuvik and now I can. Thanks Jen and Kristine for your great company!

Everything tastes better when you pick them!!! YUMMY BLUE BERRIES.... you don't get a whole lot for the hours you put into picking!

We love our work!!!

Rick's dream has always been to Canoe down the Mackenzie River

So Ricks dream came true ! He arranged a canoe pick up, only having the canoe fall off the truck 2 times, we made it to the Mackenzie river drop off point. We got out, canoe in water... there goes canoe down water... string broken... string still in Ricks hands...Rick jumps in after canoe.. Ricks pants and shoes completely soaked in Mackenzie river water! Was this part of his dream, I don't think so!

After the little mishaps.. we are paddling down the Mackenzie river, enjoying the nice day and the great waters!

Happy Rick!!

I think I am leaving at the right time.. Inuvik is surrounded by huge belly's. That's right, what I call the Baby Boom.. 40 Births to be expected by the end of September in Inuvik. WOW. But look at how cute they are.

Abra-Kidabra...... BOOM

That's right... (Jen sit down for this one). I decided that I need to buy myself a going away present from Inuvik. Something that I will use, that I need and that I will really get alot of use out of. So Monday Am I ordered, and by Wednesday I had it in my hot little hands. I have to say, I for once was a big fan of Canada Post for getting the package to me so Quickly

What did I buy... something every photo crazy person needs. A NIKON D80!!!!

Yes... The box was GOLD.. That must mean something... !!! ITs the one! My new Baby! Now all I need is a funky case

I think in my next profession I will be a photographer. I love photo's, capturing the moment and I on only rare occasion leave my house without my camera. I think a very great purchase on my part!

Me happy... I got a new camera
(and yes the camera took this pic)

A memory I will always have of wild Trina.

I was driving home from work, and I see Trina walking from the Nurses Residence to the hospital for night shift. She was just "busting it" across the parking lot with a huge red helium filled balloon with a grin from ear to ear. I knew something was up. And yes... something was up. The balloon was going to stay in the hospital until Saturday when her plan would be taken forward when Willie, Janet and I worked with her.

A note of "Trina's big red balloon, don't touch or action will be taken" was placed on the string. Saturday came, and her big red balloon wasn't so big. She was so disappointed. The look on her face was priceless. I will never forget that day!! Trina you Rock!!

Our Kinda Fun..
Yes we are GEEKS!!!

Wanna Try on our Glasses

Our Northern Mother-
Saying our Goodbyes, So longs, and Hope we see you in the Future to SheilaSheila, one who ventured out on her own to the NWT when she was early 20's has lived her whole life in Inuvik. Sheila greeted the both of us when we arrived with open arms, teaching us all about the North. She has stories you could listen to forever. Our afternoon of goodbyes was greeted with tea and cookies as well as many stories about being on the land, native life and adventures she has taken. I don't think there is anything Sheila cannot handle and cannot conquer! I will always remember Sheila forever!

What a wonderful afternoon!!
