WHAT IS THAT YOU SAY...

MUKTUK... WHAT

YES... WHALE BLUBBER!

yes.. I still cannot believe it myself.. I who has never eaten shrimp, or any type of sea-food other than some fish, tried MUKTUK.. now I can say I had whale blubber.. One of the traditional foods in the North.

How was it? Well it was squishy to feel, in the mouth it was rubbery, very mild to no flavour and hard as hell in the middle.. i couldn't even bit through the little piece so I just swallowed it..

Day 2 (today Friday).. I had another experience.. I was down at the festivities on the Mackenzie, met up with a lady I work with .. She made me try her Muktuk.. So I did.. Cannot say no to her, she is too good to me. So I sucked it up and tried it again. Cold whale blubber in the mouth.. This time, it was not hard in the middle. It was chewy. and had a light fish taste. If I have to say it, this one wasn't as bad as the first trial. But still I think I will not be eating it everyday. Maybe never again... it's just not my thing.

BUT I DID IT.... I TRIED MUKTUK.. twice.. I still am in shock!
